Serial number scanning

The Webatar app allows one to scan via serial numbers

Only outwards serial number will check database to see if the serial number exists.

Inwards serial numbers do not check database, but will create new serial numbers.

Serial number scanning does not work with outwards which includes, Stock Receive, Stock Adjustment and Credit Note documents.

Only Serial numbers that are In Stock will sync to the device.

Serial numbers sync is off by default. To turn it on, click the toggle for "Sync Serial Numbers" in the Advanced section of the Settings/Offline Sync panel.

If Sync is Off for serial numbers, then the Skipped message will show on sync, otherwise it will sync

Serial numbers scanning button switch is only available if the Serial number sync button is active. When active the synced Serial Numbers will be searched if the scanned text does not match the barcodes or stock codes of any Stock Items synced to the app's database. If a serial number matching the scanned text is found, then the stock item for it will be added to the stock count and the serial number will be added for the item and the count incremented if it is new to the item.

While this option is enabled the scan field placeholder text will change from "Scan Stock Item" to "Scan Stock Item+" to indicated that Items can also be added to the list by scanning one or more of their serial numbers in addition to their Stock Code or Barcode.

If a serial number is scanned as a Stock Item into but does not exist in the app's database, then an error will show.  One cannot scan OUT a serial number a stock item that does not exist or references a stock item that does not exist.

Button for serial number scanning only appears for Invoice - outwards, Stock Return - Outwards and stock take.

In portrait mode this button will appear in the options menu accessed by tapping the three vertical dot icon in the title bar.

Duplicate serial numbers

The app will display a prompt if it finds more than one product for the scanned serial number.

If the same serial number is used more than once for two distinct products, then before the item can be added to the list a dialog will show from which one is selected. Tapping outside of the box or tapping the Cancel button will cancel the action. Products which already have their serial number added will be greyedfiltered out.out and hidden. If there are no available products, then instead of showing the dialog an error message will show indicating this.

Scanning Serial numbers directly to the item

When scanning serial numbers directly to the item from the serial number list for the item, any serial number, including those which do not exist in the app's database, can be added provided they were not added before. When the serial number does not exist in the database however the list item will be flagged to indicate this.

Scanning Serial numbers with Prompt for Count Toggled On

When scanning serial numbers into the list as Stock Items by default no Serial Number count dialog will automatically show when the item is added to the list. This is in contrast to scanning a serial item by its stock code. In this case the dialog will be presented.

The exception to the dialog not showing when scanning serial numbers is when the Prompt for Count option is enabled.

When enabled and a serial number is scanned, instead of showing the standard count dialog as with other items, the Serial Number count dialog will show.
